Wederkeer (2023)

Terjemahan
Wederkeer
Verlangend naar de zegetocht
Onder vaandels van het vaderland
Vechtend immer voor de eer
Gelovend in de wederkeer
Met onbesuisde krijgslust
Verankerd in ons beminde land
Speermannen aan de top van het krijt
De Carnyx klinkt aan de overkant
Beroofd van ons geloof en trots
Is het leven ons niets meer waard
Onze kracht zit diep geworteld
Onbereikbaar voor het langste zwaard
The Return
Longing for the victory march
Beneath the banners of the motherland1
Fighting as always for glory
Believing in the return2
With reckless belligerence
Anchored in our beloved land
Spearmen at the top of the limestone3
The Carnyx4 sounds from across the other side
Robbed of our beliefs and pride
Life has become worthless to us
Our power is rooted deeply
Unreachable to even the longest sword
- 1. Dutch uses fatherland as a designation as opposed to English motherland
- 2. Wederkeer has a slight religious overtone in Dutch so this is probably meant as a spiritual return
- 3. I presume limestone cliffs here as krijt is either limestone or chalk
- 4. The ancient carnyx was a wind instrument of the Iron Age Celts, used between c. 200 BC and c. AD 200
