Runic Poem
Wealth causes dispute among friends;
The wolf lives in the forest.
"Runes you will find, and readable staves,
Very strong staves, very stout staves,
Staves that Bolthor stained,
Made by mighty powers,
Graven by the prophetic god."
Slag comes from bad iron;
Often runs the reindeer on frozen snow.
Giant causes woman's sorrow;
Few are cheerful from misfortune.
River mouth is way of most journeys;
But the sheath is the one of swords.

with a loud cry..."
Riding, one says, is for horses the worst;
Regin forged the best sword.
Ulcer is fatal for children;
Death makes man pale.
Hail is the coldest of grain;
Herjan shaped the world in olden times.
Need leaves you little choice;
The naked freeze in the frost.
Ice we call the broad bridge;
The blind man must be led.
Good year is a blessing for men;
I say that Frodi was generous.
Sun is light of the land;
I bow before the holy.
Tyr is one-handed among the Æsir;
Often the smith must blow.
Birch is the limb greenest with leaves;
Loki brought success of deceit.

About translator
I'm pretty sure there'd been an English translation of Runaljod up before, can't guess why it's been removed. Here it is nevertheless once again.
Translation's from the official booklet (http://www.wardruna.com/shop/runaljod.html) with the few grammatical errors corrected (you wouldn't expect such carelessness, but there it was); for the Hávamál parts, I used the Auden-Taylor version (https://web.archive.org/web/20050912100548/http://vta.gamall-steinn.org/...) as the most understandable that's closest to the original.
I split the stanza of each rune in two lines (as is in the booklet) in contrast with the lyrics, as in English they're VERY long to be aligned next to each other. I suggest a realignment of the Norse text to match up with it. Regarding this, I also included the repetition of the "mikill er græip á hauki" line.
