There is hope
Despite the flowers filling the fields
And no matter how much you talk, explain or say
My love, my love, so that we get back together, no, this can't be
I've got swallows, and brick rooftops*
I know what it means that you are away
But, my love, my feelings (for you) wouldn't come back again
There is hope, yes, there is hope
Sometimes it comes out from boredom
And sometimes it comes out of some longing, for a moment to soothe some sadness (heartache)
The color of my youth** reminds me of you
but won't make me forget what happened
Before me are (your) letters from years ago
that got bored with all these roses, flowers, and jasmine
(But) my love, my love, the longing does not touch me anymore
(I don't long for you anymore)
We had a nice past but it has gone
Got scattered in the wind, in the outdoors
Still there are memories to what happened
Like the bread and salt (food we shared) and contentment
Every night and day
I see my lifetime passing before my eyes
See the wheat in the plains?
See the water that keeps falling? (Waterfalls/rain?)
My love, who'd believe my feelings would vanish this much?
You told your friends and visitors
That I am mediocre and too jealous
But my love, for my sake, we both know what (really) happened
We both know what (really) happened

The lyrics are loaded with figurative images, I tried to place a mix of both keeping the meaning and the original spirit of Rahbani writings:
*(Swallows figurative for friends and companionship-Brick rooftops figurative for: I got my own house, conclusion, I don't need your company or providing a place for me)
** A very common mistake in the Arabic lyrics, almost everyone mishears it: It is "شبابي" not "شبابيك"
