Tú alfagra land mítt, mín dýrasta ogn!
á vetri so randhvítt, á sumri við logn,
tú tekur meg at tær so tætt í tín favn.
Tit oyggjar so mætar, Guð signi tað navn,
sum menn tykkum góvu, tá teir tykkum sóu.
Ja, Guð signi Føroyar, mítt land!
Hin roðin, sum skínur á sumri í líð,
hin ódnin, sum týnir mangt lív vetrartíð,
og myrkrið, sum fjalir mær bjartasta mál,
og ljósið, sum spælir mær sigur í sál:
alt streingir, ið tóna, sum vága og vóna,
at eg verji Føroyar, mítt land.
Eg nígi tí niður í bøn til tín, Guð:
Hin heilagi friður mær falli í lut!
Lat sál mína tváa sær í tíni dýrd!

White-crested in winter, so peaceful in summer

You islands so mighty, God bless that name
which men gave you, when they saw you
Yes, God bless the Faroe Islands, my land!
The glow of dawn, which shines on the hills in the summer
The great storm, which wipes out so much life in the winter
and the dark, which hides the brightest voice
and the light, which sings in my soul:
all the strings, which ring, which hope and encourage
that I defend the Faroe Islands, my land.
I bow down with a request to you, God:
May the holy peace fall to me!
Let my soul be cleansed in your glory!
So I may wake -- well baptized by God --
to bear the mark, which distinguishes that duty,
to preserve the Faroe Islands, my land!
