More time passed than I had thought
An untiring heart prowls
Robbing a body that can’t move
A curtain call that snatches you
I was only envious
I wanted to try it
I wanted to try to cast it away as soon as I received it
Stiff fingertips, loose inner canthi
Grant my wish, fulfill it
Come on, let’s do the ceremony
Destroying the law, defying logic too
Let’s make a pinky promise
Even changing the past and connecting the final promise
I like it considerably better than I thought
In an instant, dreams meet and curse
Unmuddied isolation and thrill is special, is it called a prayer?
Couldn’t you have run away?
Couldn’t you stop?
Perhaps I shouldn’t have met you
The released resentful complaint is faster
The wish could be granted, I won’t give it to you!
It was admitted, right? I’ll challenge
You think everything is a lie, right?
Let me hear you cry and yell, hurry
A wish could be granted, I’ll give it to you
Come on, let’s continue the ceremony
The shadows dance before the song whose voice fades and reverberates
Let’s make a pinky promise
Selling names and passionately boiling hopes
Sometimes, randomly the sky is hit with a tack
The sad starry sky is completed
It’s beautiful to gaze at after all
A person creates a wish they give up on that hides behind their eyelid
You’re the only different one, right?
Let’s make a pinky promise
I struggled synthesizing my understanding of the lyrics in Japanese with how I'd translate it to English, honestly. I haven't listened to the whole of the Mephisto album and it's cool to learn there's a song about Faust too. Though this song, Faust, is definitely more about Mephistopheles, I'd gather. It's from Mephistopheles' perspective, about the pact he makes with Faust. This makes sense as Mephisto appears to be from the perspective of Faust. I'm going to be perfectly honest, I'm a bit familar with the Faustian legend and also the events of Goethe's version, but I've never actually read the latter. As far as I know, the story of Mephisto doesn't accurately reflect Faust's journey. Things started to go sour for that guy when he started using Mephistopheles' power to get a woman to sleep with him (she had his baby, she killed the baby, she's killed for killing the baby, I think she was convicted of witchcraft? I don't remember). Mephisto by Queen Bee feels far more suited to Oshi no Ko's Aqua (and Ruby), what with Ai literally giving them more time on earth. Faust, however, seems far more direct with how it's about the Faustian legend. Excuse my rant, I love Queen Bee
