What the World Gifted Me

Some light up fireworks, some chase the evening breeze,
Borrowing a moment of time to cradle a piece of starlit sky.
Pause, wait, resist the rush,
Dreamers have crafted dreams deserving of my praise.

The world gifted me the song of insects and the roar of thunder,
It gifted me a crescent moon and stars of the night.
It gifted me an illness and the slow chime of recovery,
It gifted me emptiness, which gently fills with feeling.

Some sing love songs, some hear the bells of dusk,
Borrowing fleeting innocence to stir a wave.
Chasing, hurrying, love is strong,
Good stories belong to good souls, blessed by heaven's grace.

The world gifted me the gift to hold and the heart to give,
It gifted me a small window and a roof to live beneath.
It gifted me a name and an age which gradually increases,
It gifted me a poem which is read quietly and peacefully.

Some want to look back, some want to look forward,
Borrowing a passing cloud to capture a fleeting moment.
Think about it, ask oneself, don't pry,
Those who left have journeyed far; may they find their peace.
