A mother embroidered at night oh, a trousseau
for the daughter she expects, she embroiders locks
she will think of my father when she gives birth
she thought of him at all hours of the day
firmly the cypresses lay inside of his grave.
She comes with her wedding dress over her shoulders
they all leave mourning and crying
she won't leave, she says she's afraid of the night
and in her womb, mushrooms1 flourish.
Dew and jasmines begin to fall into the patio
and into the apron of the widow
the day is coming, and white cotton threads
are unraveled on the ground.
