The moon is shining, the stars are out
And it's time to start settling down
It's dark outside, it's hard to see
And lots of people getting ready to sleep
But just 'cause the sun's not up in the sky
There's plenty of creatures that really don't mind
So much is happening

Flickering and fluttering with lights so bright
Ooh, the little raccoons, see 'em running free
They like to move around like a family
And the wise old owl, he's so cool
If you listen really close, he might play you a tune
Coyotes howling, bats in the trees
Cats and the crickets sound like a symphony
And all this is happening
In the nighttime
And now, before you lay down
You can build that fire in the camping ground
Look through a telescope up at the sky
Follow that comet as it zooms right by
And when you are done having your fun
Make sure that you lay down now
