Aux yeux de Modigliani
Quand la palette a leur coeur gris. I think there's a transcription mistake in "leur coeur". It should be "le" in logical grammar; but look at the higher case of Visconti and Vivaldi, it should be consistant.
Back to my earlier comment; the indefinite pronoun "on" in Frenh stands for person not thing, object, or neuter, while in English, "it" is for impersonal matter. On a dit que... can be "it is said that... corresponding with " il est dit que..." but these are two differentthings
"On" can stand for us: On y va: let's go. You can praise a lady by saying to her: on est belle aujourd'hui. By the meaning, in here "on" is at 2nd person". But no way does the word replace objet, neuter things.
About translator
Regarding the 3rd and two last lines
comme ceux qui jouent le coeur et leur amour. just like they play games, cards, the guitar, not with "heart". You play the game and all the times you win. I would like to to say that the word "with" brings the text to another direction, in which "heart" is a manner, how the games were played, complement circonstanciel de manière. Actually they play the heart, they don't have a heart in there.
sa vie, on peut la perdre aussi.
Sa vie: his, her, its life. It cannot be Modigliani's one. It belongs to the indefinite pronoun "on" standing for one, they, people.... The word "la" is an intentional repetition. I would like to translate like this: One's life, one could lose it too. Or it's better: Even the life, one could lose it too. (one has only one life).
Or following the translation: his life, he can also lose. It is neuter. If we still want the "it" replacing his life, the main verb should be in passive voice: his life, it can be lost..
