Click to see the original lyrics (Arabic)
Oh messenger of all messengers whose going to the near village
Take that napkin with you and give it to my lover
All aroud i embroided it a little bit, my hand and my bracelet
And i wrote his name on it with hook threads
With blue and red threads and songs of young brown kids
I wrote to him a story of a life, with my tear's pencil
Take that napkin with you and give it to my lover
His house is the las house that has a aliye (علية means a step or a floor that is higher from the main entrance of the house in traditional lebanese syrian... houses)
You arrive to the house and you enter and you give him the gift
And if he said things tell him to remember
On this yellow napkin i sent him my messages
Take that napkin with you and give it to my lover
And bring me a souvenir from him, a paper, a photo
On the paper let him right poems, and his name on the photo
And when the mawawil (the persons who say the mouwal: a traditional arabic type of poems and songs) will cry, let him ask for the napkin's owner
Oh messenger of all messengers say hi to my lover
Take that napkin with you and give it to my lover
