1. As usual in my translations, and because Old Norse spellings usually seem to be preferred to modern Icelandic ones when talking about Norse mythology, I am 'translating' the names of figures/places into Old Norse where applicable.
2. Suffocating in the transitive sense - she isn't choking, she chokes others (not literally though, as far as I can tell).
3. Her power over people is said here to literally 'tower over' them.
4. This is my best guess as to why 'you' is dative in this sentence, because the strength and support are not being given *to* the lyrical you.
5. They could also just be asking unspecified people for something.
6. A link here to the other Norns (witches) sung about on this album, Verðandi and Skuld.
7. More like 'what's done has become', but that makes less sense to me.
