По горам Карпатским метелица вьётся,
Сильные морозы зимою трещат. *
 
Проклятый германец на нас наступает
На нашу державу, на крест золотой.
 
А мой милый чёрный, чёрный, чернобровый
С германцами бьётся за веру свою.
 
Хотели германцы, чтоб наши казаки
К ихнему престолу служить бы пошли.
А наши казаки, славные рубаки,

Заиграли трубы, трубы-барабаны.
Отворились двери и вышел басурман.
 
Закипела битва, битва беспощадна,
Полилась рекою горячая кровь.

Along the Carpathian mountains snowstorm is whriling
Hard frost bites in the winter
 
Damned Germans attack us
Our Motherland, the golden cross*
 
My dear, dark, dark, dark-browed
Fights with Germans for his faith
 
Germans have wanted that our kazaks
Started to serve their throne
But our kazaks are good cutters (warriors)
They didn't start to serve their throne
 
Tubes have started to play, tubes and drums
Opened doors and the enemy's come out
 
The battle begins, the pitiless battle
Hot blood has started to flow like a river
 
Kazaks pray the God, pray with tears
That their head will not be laid together in a burial mound
 
On the mound cheery birds
Gaily play(sing) for their faith
