Our Christmas festivities begin in May

they grow, they get stronger.

I looked at the boar sprawled in the pigpen

2. a. b. c. d. lit. "the Christmas star is essential"
3. lit. "Someone sees this person, turns their head"
4. "laittaa kystä kyllä", Finnish idiom, literally "put out enough baked food". This is a reference to an old Finnish Christmas song, "Kun joulu on".
5. lit. "a person is what they eat", similar to the English expression "You are what you eat". I don't know why but I just feel gender-specific "man" works better here.
