The Little Death

In the space of a breath
On a late summer evening
The angels left first
And their faces stained white
I think that it's too late
To admit to you that I'm hurting
With my dying heart
And my memories stained white

If they lose me, know that I'll be yours,
And nestled in his arms, death will cradle us
Because if they lose me,
It's only so I remain yours
And nestled in his arms, death with cradle us

The rain runs down my temples
The lightning sings your descent
Huddled up against my life
Your laugh resonates and then flees
I think that it's too late
To admit to you that I'm hurting
My heart is not like it was before
Because it softly falls asleep

I don't know if it's the same in english but I just want to precise that in french "little death" "petite mort" is an expression to speak about orgasme.

The expression is not the same in English, I had no idea what petite mort was supposed to mean, thank you though now I understand it!

It doesn't have a proper English equivalent, but the expression "The petite mort" is actually used in English as is, with the same meaning. "Little death" or "small death" is more of a transliteration, but I have seen it used. Thanks for mentioning it!

Excuse me, but I think this translation needs some revision. They always mentioned Death in french as a woman (as in "La Mort" - a femminine noun).
Sorry if I make some mistake, as my English is not so good.
Thanks out there to the translator for translating such a beautiful song by Coeur de Pirate :)
And personally, I think this song just talks literally about the dying of a girl. It has nothing to do with orgasm. Eargasm, maybe.

I think that this song has nothing to do with orgasm, the expression here is just poetic and refers to a heart crisis. Sometimes "a little death" means just "a little death" : to loose love is like to die a little. To put it simply - it's a break-up song.
