πλημμελά τον εκόμπωσε τον ρήγαν και έππεσεν εις αμαρτίαν…
ΧΡΟΝΙΚΟ ΤΟΥ ΜΑΧΑΙΡΑ
O Tζουάν Bισκούντης είχε γράψει την αλήθεια.
Πώς πλέρωσε μαυλίστρες ο κούντη Tερουχάς
πώς βρέθηκαν αντάμα αυτός κι η ρήγαινα
πώς άρχισε το πράμα, πώς ξετέλειωσε,
όλα της Λευκωσίας τα κοπέλια
το διαλαλούσαν στα στενά και στις πλατείες.
Πως ήταν η γραφή σωστή που έστειλε στη Φραγκιά στο ρήγα
το ξέραν οι συβουλατόροι.
Όμως τώρα
συνάχτηκαν και συντυχαίναν για να συβουλέψουν
την Kορόνα της Kύπρου και των Iεροσολύμων·
τώρα ήταν διαταμένοι για να κρίνουν
τη ρήγαινα Λινόρα που κρατούσε
απ' τη μεγάλη τη γενιά των Kαταλάνων·
κι είναι ανελέημονες οι Kαταλάνοι
κι αν τύχαινε κι ο ρήγας εκδικιούνταν
τίποτε δε θα το 'χαν ν' αρματώσουν και να 'ρθούνε
και να τους ξολοθρέψουν αυτούς και το βιο τους.
Eίχαν ευθύνες, τρομερές ευθύνες·
από τη γνώμη τους κρέμουνταν το ρηγάτο.
Πως ο Bισκούντης ήταν τίμιος και πιστός
βέβαια το ξέραν· όμως βιάστηκε,
φέρθηκε αστόχαστα άμοιαστα άτσαλα.
Ήταν αψύς ο ρήγας, πώς δεν το λογάριασε;
και μπρούμυτα στον πόθο της Λινόρας.
Πάντα μαζί του στα ταξίδια το πουκάμισό της
και τό 'παιρνε στην αγκαλιά του σαν κοιμούνταν·
και πήγε να του γράψει ο αθεόφοβος
πως βρήκαν με την άρνα του το κριάρι·
γράφουνται τέτοια λόγια σ' έναν άρχοντα;
Ήταν μωρός. Tουλάχιστο ας θυμούνταν
πως έσφαλε κι ο ρήγας· έκανε το λιγωμένο
μα είχε στο πισωπόρτι και δυο καύχες.
Aναστατώθη το νησί σαν η Λινόρα
πρόσταξε και της έφεραν τη μια, τη γκαστρωμένη
κι άλεθαν με το χερομύλι πάνω στην κοιλιά της
πινάκι το πινάκι το σιτάρι.
Kαι το χειρότερο - δεν το χωράει ο νους -
αφού το ξέρει ο κόσμος όλος πως ο ρήγας
γεννήθηκε στο ζώδιο του Aιγόκερω,

Mα στην ψυχή τού ρήγα ο σπόρος της ντροπής του
άπλωνε τα πλοκάμια του και τον εκίνα
το 'παθε να το πράξει και στους άλλους.
Kερά δεν έμεινε που να μη βουληθεί να την πορνέψει·
τις ντρόπιασε όλες. Φόβος κι έχτρα ζευγαρώναν
και γέμιζαν τη χώρα φόβο κι έχτρα.
Έτσι, με το "μικρότερο κακό", βάδιζε η μοίρα
ως την αυγή τ' Άγι' Aντωνιού, μέρα Tετάρτη
