1. The first floor in German is the second floor in American English. There's one or more idioms or figures of speech here that I'm not getting. Does it just mean 'with a rapid pulse'?
2. Literally 'the room is spanned' but when you read/hear it at first, without the next line, it seems to mean the room is filled with tension
3. I wanted to use 'brush someone off' or 'give someone the brush-off' but I couldn't figure out who that someone would be, so I didn't know what pronoun to use. This whole verse, and this whole song, is a little obscure for me. It seems that the male singer is using 'you' sometimes to refer to himself and sometimes to refer to the woman who ends up with him.
4. Literally 'you concretely take the basket (brush-off) into the purchase.' I have no idea what that 'concretely' is supposed to imply. Is there an actual basket or purchase involved here? Not as far as I can tell. Sigh...
5. The German proverb is that if you have bad luck in one you have good luck in the other
6. sorry, this didn't really make much sense to me, this couplet seems deliberately ambiguous
