Petroleum lamp*
It's a pretty porcelain and it's on the piano
A bright old-old-old-old lamp
Green letters: I am the light, the fire,
To see the night.
Petroleum lamp*,
How beautiful is her flame
a-a-a
Peered night**, and many butterflies burnt,
And he tolerated many, many, many lies.
A hundred years have passed, knowing life,
and understanding the world.
Petroleum lamp*,
How beautiful is her flame
a-a-a
Little girl, if you are here, your shadow is a blue giant.
A look and it enchants.
You look at what you are like a cinema,
and in two beautiful eyes dance.
Petroleum lamp*,
How beautiful is her flame
a-a-a***

*Petroleum lamp or Kerosene lamp or Oil lamp
**My friend told me this one had several translations and said something about the original possibly being a typo.
***This refrain was told me by a friend to be likely horrid.
I am not native to Hungarian. It's just a language I've began studying at the same time I've studied other languages. I have a friend, native to the language, that helped me translate word for word. That translation method likely failed. He said it was kinda a fool's errand to try to translate something in Hungarian into English. He said most of the time when he's tried it becomes gibberish, and then went on a long tangent about learning English.
