Down my street…

Down my street, I’ve heard year after year
The sound of steps – that’s been my friends’ departure.
My dearest friends have slowly disappeared;
The night is pleased with our attachment’s fracture.

Oh, loneliness, your nature is so coarse!
And, dazzling with a rusty iron compass,
You close the circle, following your course,
Not heeding to our pleadings, rather useless.

In your forest, let me stand on my tiptoes,
At the other end of the slow-motion gesture,
Kiss autumn fallen leaves, the cold wind blows,
And equate solitude with bliss in nature.

And in your libraries, I’ll be composed,
To hear your concerts’ music, please allow.
And when I’m wise, I would forget all those,
The ones who died or are alive till now.

I shall acquire grief and wisdom’s splendor,
I’ll be enlightened with the objects’ hidden sense.
And nature, gently leaning on my shoulder,
Will share its secrets with childish confidence.

And only then, out of tears and darkness,
And out of poor ignorance of the past,
Those friendly faces, marked with sincere kindness,
Shall reappear, but will no longer last.
