* Gackt writes the color "sepia" as 世緋亜色. 色 (iro) is the suffix meaning "color," but the other three kanji are just totally random that have the same syllables as sepia in Japanese (sepia, written in katakana normally as セピア). Needless to say, this confused me so much the very first time I attempted translating this song.
** The kanji at the end is actually the kanji for "smile" (微笑, bishou) But Gackt sings warau (笑う) "to laugh" instead. But the written lyrics throw me off just a little bit because the verb "to smile" in Japanese is hohoemu (微笑む) but instead of tacking the hiragana mu at the end of bishou to make it a verb, he just uses hiragana u and sings it as warau. I translated the lyrics as "you laugh" instead of "you smile" just for the sake of the sung lyrics.
