Parallelisme

Przekład
Parallélisme (Parallelism)
Outside the window, a pyramid roof
As hands ball up just like a cat
As that child remains asleep in his heart
Placing bricks on your head, going for a walk
When you go one by one, greeting a line of Indians
Night will come
The affairs of the world are everyone's illusions
Hurrying by, you rush by
In time, god will confer me
Only in the manner of the soul
That child open heartily offers a prayer
On delicately honeybee hued shoulders
The coronet grazed by the vestiges
of that young boy's day echoes, Sunday
Nobody will retain the memory like this
After a bit of protest, it will be farewell

uji na napisał:Hi I never heard this song but it resembles YMO. I like YMO, too.
By the way, it seems coronet is not stolen one, 掠める is graze.
Hmm, does mean graze too, but grazed coronet doesn't sound right, like was the horn brushed up against? It also means to be cheated, stolen, tricked, pillaged, plundered, etc. And *that* sounds dead on when you're ending out, nobody able to hold recollection, giving up on god *as it is*, after the sound of this coronet. Not to mention literally an "instrument which has been tricked", likens itself to what the child is... an instrument tricked.
I'm pretty sure I discovered Miharu Koshi after a deep YMO binge and I was like "oh... OOOH!"

Parallelism is a huge bucket of worms, lol. Poetically, it's comparing and contrasting lines with each other in different ways. It's essentially making two ideas have a parallel relationship, either in what they say, how they structurally flow, etc. Old Hebrew writing is filled with that stuff, that's a reason why too the Bible is filled with it. Thirdly, it's also critiquing religion in a way that most religions are parallel to each other (copies of in a sense). This song seems to use all 3... poetic, religious topic, and critiquing. Being the case, it's difficult translating Japanese that flows poetically, but less so in English. I tried my best to achieve that same feeling, though it's never going to be 1:1.
If you listen to her Japanese, it's hitting a very accented beat on certain sounds, every line, these are complimenting the next lines. That's why when you hear it, not understanding a word, it still sounds extremely pleasing.
For example first line is 2 parts:
Ma-Do-No-Mu-Kou-E-Ni-Wa, 8 beats
Pi-Ri-Ra-Mi-Do-No-Ya-Ne, 8 beats
They also parallel "Mx-Do-No" in each. When you flow like that, on beat, it's pleasing. It does that, so even where the parallel might not be obvious in English, you'll aesthetically hear it.
Hehe, maybe I'm reading too deep into it... but ey, it has Hosono-san (YMO fame) producing it! These two together would likely hurt your head with something artsy like this lmao, that's why I read deep into it.
