Fear

(Du)
(Du)

(Du)

When the children are uneducated
Even the father threatened
Bogeyman, he'll get you
If you don't follow my command

And we believe that to this day
The country and its people are so scared
Something bad is about to happen
Evil comes, will not go

And the fear grows in the night
Door and gates are guarded
Backs wet, hands clammy
Everyone is afraid of the Bogeyman

(Du)

In darkness, he sneaks up
If you're not good, he'll touch you
Don't trust strangers, then
So much nightmare, so much madness

And so we believe to this day
The pack is heavily armed
Oh they can't let it go
Scream fire in the alleys

And the fear grows in the night
Not a wink at all
Back wet, hands clammy
Everyone is afraid of the Bogeyman

(Du)
(Du)
(Du)

Who is afraid of the Bogeyman
Who is afraid of the Bogeyman
Who is afraid of the Bogeyman
Who's scared

And the fear grows in the night
Not a wink at all
Back wet, hands clammy
Everyone is afraid

(Du)
(Du) Bogeyman
(Du)
(Du) Bogeyman

"Schwarze Mann" does not literally mean a "black man" in this context. It is supposed to mean "bogeyman", and the correct translation is "the Bogeyman will get you", and "who is afraid of the Bogeyman?", etc.

Fixed, thank you.

While this is possible, I don't think it's nessecarily the case. That would only be accurate if they were actually referring to the movie (maybe they were also referring to it only partially, idk), but translating it that way takes away all possibility that they could be talking about the old german childrens game "Der Schwarze Mann" aka "Wer hat Angst vorm schwarzen Mann?" that has the background of the European black death epidemics. It also removes the possibility that they are talking about dark skinned people. Therefore I think it should at least be mentioned, that there are multiple ways to translate this, since it's like a triple wordplay.

>"Not a wink at all"
What does it mean?
>"Gar kein Auge zugemacht" means: Not a minute of sleep

It means the same as "to not sleep at all" :)

I guess he's just one of many. Thinking back to the Inquisition I guess the Roman Catholic Church is one of the most vicious killers of human mankind.
And we'll see if he can add up to those:
