Bebete, Let’smoveon

Bebete, let’s move on
Cause it’s time now
Take a look, the rooster has crowed already
And the Sun is about to coming up
And you ain’t stopped to dance your samba1
I know you are faithful to me
But, you know, the neighbours are looking and gossiping
I am your man
And you are my woman
But as you see, who doesn’t cries, doesn’t get its milk2
And our baby is weeping and he wants his milk
And you know very well
That I have to work soon
I can’t come late anymore
Nor even miss work
As the new manager
It’s not such a friend of mine
And then, how could a buy you,
If I am in jeopardy,
New shoes for you to dance samba1.

I thought in something like that:
But as you see, the squeaky wheel gets the grease / and our wheel is squeaking and wants its grease
But I don't know if it's correct…

Thanks so much for the translation, Roberto, much appreciated. :)

Could you clarify the song's meaning for me, too, if it's not too much trouble? Is it about a man breaking up with his girl, or is a bit more complicated than that?

I think it’s about the life of poor couple (of lower class) and their everyday situations, as the fight to have and keep a job, a good relationship, and about how they deal with what the others say about them…

For those wondering what Bebete means, it's a nickname for Elizabeth and Vãobora means "vamos embora" (let's go). When you say "vamos embora" fast, you say something like "vãobora". Just like "What is up" and "wussup".

Your translation is admirable, but I think native English-speakers would find it a little awkward, A few changes and it's golden though.

My re-translation is below:

Bebete Vãobora Let’s go baby
De: Jorge Ben Jor
By: Jorge Ben Jor

Bebete vãobora Let’s go baby
Pois já está na hora ‘Cause it’s already late
Olha que o galo cantou Look, the rooster crowed
E o sol vai raiar And the sun is rising
E você não parou de sambar And you won’t stop sambaring
Eu sei que você me é fiel I know you’re faithful to me
Mas é que os vizinhos já estão a olhar e falar But it’s just that the neighbors are looking and saying
Eu sou o seu homem I’m your man
E você minha mulher And you’re my woman
Mas quem não chora não mama But who doesn’t cry, doesn’t wanna be nursed?
E o nosso neném está chorando querendo mamar And our baby is crying and wanting to be fed
E você sabe muito bem And you know very well
Que logo mais eu tenho que trabalhar That I have to go to work early
Já não posso mais chegar atrasado I already can’t be late anymore
E nem pensar em faltar And not even think of missing work
Pois o novo gerente ‘cause the new boss
Não é lá muito meu amigo He there is NOT my friend
E depois como é que eu posso comprar And after that, how can I go shopping
Estando a perigo If I’m near gone
Novas sandálias pra você sambar To get new sandals for you to samba
