Original lyrics
Dastaan
Kaisay, bethay bethay, saaray gham mujhse le kar gaye tumm
Jaisay, jaisay phooloun, phooloun si khusbhboo de kar gaye tumm
Meri tanhiyaan. Meri parchaayiyan.
Kehnay lagii tu na jaa
Jaye tou noor chor jaa
Dekhay jo tou youn pyaar se
Dekhoun mein khaab jag mein
Ban ke to aas reh jaye pass
chootay na haath saath ye
Kesay, bethay bethay, yaadoun mein hastay, bastay gaye tumm
Jaisay, pyaaray sapnay, sapnoun mein aa ke gumm ho gye tumm. Hoooo…..
Meri tanhayiyaan …. Meri parchayian…
Kehnay lagi tu na jaa jaayay to noor chor jaa
Din ho yaa raat ho
Tumm passs ho
tumm pass ho
Han ye ehsaas ho
Tumm pass ho
Tumm pass ho
Choti si baat dil mein dabbi kehni hai aaj pr abhi
Ban ke dua tu hai basii hountoun kea as pass hi….

Translation
Tale
How, just like that, you took every sorrow away from me
As if you gave the scent of blossom to me
My solitariness, my shadows/reflections
Ask you not to leave
But if you do, leave your gleam behind
Whenever you look at me with affection
I indulge in a daydream
(If only you could) become what I wish/hope for and stay with me
May this commitment/bond never break
How, just like that, I implanted you in my memories, laughing
As if you came in a honeyed dream, and vanished
My solitariness, my shadows
Ask you not to leave
And if you do, please, leave your divine light behind
Be it day or night
You're with me
You're with me
Yes, you're the feeling
Of being (right here) with me
You're with me
A very small declaration is concealed in my heart, I have to say it today and now
You're thereabout my lips; in the form of a prayer
equirhythmic
poetic
rhyming
singable

This is a poetic translation - deviations from the meaning of the original are present (extra words, extra or omitted information, substituted concepts).

Author's comments:
Quite a beautiful song, but some words can be concluded to have various meanings, since that's how Urdu/Hindi (or songs, basically) work(s). No one except the original writer knows what he actually intended by those terms. Hence, the double meaning. They've been distinguished with a slash [/].
