Original lyrics
Y puedan alcanzar esa felicidad, tan anhelada.

Translation
The Path of Life
Hurrying, like the wind
The days and nights of childhood pass by;
An angel provides us with care,
While her hands weave off the distances;
Later come the youth years,
The games, friends, the school;
The soul already defines its profiles,
And all of a sudden, the heart starts sowing a dream.
(Chorus) And then the delights of the first love rise up like a water spring,
The soul already wishes to fly, and it flies chasing an illusion,
And so we learn that pain and joy,
are the permanent essence of life;
And then, when we are two, in search of one aspiration,
We form a nest of love, a haven that is called home
And we begin another stage of the path
A man and a woman, conjoined by faith and hope.
The offspring of the union that God blessed
Brighten up our home with their presence,
Who does one love more, if not one's children?
They are the continuation of existence;
Then come countless struggles and sleepless nights,
So that they're never short of anything,
So that, when they grow up, they go far;
And can reach that longed for joy.
And then, when they go away, some of them without saying goodbye
The cold of loneliness strikes our heart;
And that's why, my love, that I ask you
Once and again 1, that if I get to old age, you stay with me.
- 1. "Once and again" is the translation of "Por una y otra vez". That being said, Fonseca also sings one extra line that says "Como le pido a Dios" which means "Just like I ask God"

A popular Colombian folk song that has been covered by many latin-american artists. Fonseca's version omits one second chorus that goes before the last verse and is similar to the first chorus, but with a different spin:
And then the dreams of their hearts rise up like a water spring)
Sus almas ya quieren volar y vuelan tras una ilusión (Their souls already wish to fly, and they fly chasing an illusion)
Y descubren que el dolor y la alegría (And so they learn that pain and joy)
Son la esencia permanente de la vida (Are the permanent essence of life)
