Sorry Mr. Teacher
Click to see the original lyrics (French)
If my ears are long,
It's because a fool,
One day, had fun to draw them,
If my fingers don't have nails anymore,
It's because a fool,
One day, had fun to beat on,
Excuse me Mr. Teacher,
If I don't know my lessons by heart,
If I'm standing,
In the back of the classroom,
It's because I don't like,
Do half the things,
If I'm standing,
In the back of the classroom,
It's because another instead of me,
Is always the first,
Excuse me Mr. Teacher,
If I've always the ideas somewhere else,
If the pages are white,
Of my poor copybooks,
It's because there're too many branches,
To the trees of the forest,
And if I like the branches,
If I like the forest,
It's because you've forbidden me,
To climb on,
Excuse me Mr. Teacher,
If I know the birds by heart,
If when you call the pupils,
I answer absent,
It's because I've lost,
Your school and though,
I search it everywhere,
Through the fields,
I've lost my way,
I'll come back tomorrow,
Excuse me, Mr. Teacher,
If I know nothing by heart,
If my ears are long,
It's because a fool,
One day, had fun to draw them,
If my fingers don't have nails anymore,
It's because a fool,
One day, had fun to beat on
