The desire girls

I write songs, I don't sing them.
And your name, I don't say it.
It's but stories you're making up.
A one day romance, if you feel like it enchants you1

I shoudn't say it, but it didn't last long
I shoudn't write it, it reeks of love
I'ts useless, why run?
Desire girls are plenty.
(x2)

What you touch you destroy
My body lies down on your boredom
I skipped the loving words
like [on] a [bar] terrace in the middle of August

Don't you pretend, for I know that
you only love me because I hate you
No matter anyway, too bad,
I'll grab a taxi.

The possibility to love you is like climbing a mountain
I've already given it a few thoughts, you can bring on the champagne
I want to start something new
Allow me to hope for a nicer future.

I've rented a car
I drove to the sea
alone, I swear,
a solitary voyage2

I write songs, I don't sing them.
And your name, I don't say it.
It's but stories you're making up.
A one day romance, if you feel like it enchants you

I shoudn't say it, but it didn't last long
I shoudn't write it, it reeks of love
I'ts useless, why run?
Desire girls are plenty.

  • 1. "si ça te chante"(if you feel like it) with "enchanter" instead of "chanter". Personally I don't like these cheap substitutions, they require little talent and rarely add anything but confusion
  • 2. possibly an allusion to this song, though I fail to see the connection

Great translation! It really keeps the original vibes, even if we lose the rhymes (:
