How I was convinced

When I was a child and I started school
I didn't find a word when i started to speak norwegian1
and I felt myself foolish and miserable
when I learned that the mother tongue is for no use
 
This is how I was convinced that a sámi was bad2
 
And the I got older and went to see the world
I didn't ever say that I was a sámi
and I laughed with them who mocked sámi
although I felt that I mostly hurt myself
 
This is how I was convinced that a sámi was bad
 
Now I try to search what I until now lost
my language doesn't seem to be neither sámi nor norwegian
therefore I tell you young sámi
hold your language dear because language is power
 
Don't believe anymore that a sámi is bad
