Pjesma o Mauzeru
Oblaci tamni prekriše nebo,
Jedini zračak bio si ti.
Pravi je vođa narodu trebo,
Ponosni smo Ljubo na tebe svi.
REFREN:
Legenda si bio, legenda ostao,
Hrabrosti, poštenju primer si postao.
Narod ti vijeruje, narod ti se divi
Mauzeru Ljubo, naš sokole sivi.
Krenuše hrabro tvoji junaci
Za put života do Krajine.
Prođoše teške obruče smrti,
Promijeniše mnoge gorke sudbine.
Refren.
Tvoja će hrabrost postati simbol
Za naše nove generacije.
Kako se čuva, kako se brane
Sloboda i ponos jedne nacije?
Refren.

Translation
A song about Mauzer
Dark clouds enshrouded the sky,
The only ray of light was you.
The people needed a true leader,
We are all proud of you, Ljubo.
REFRAIN:
A legend you were, a legend you remain.
You have become an example of courage and integrity;
The people trust you, the people admire you,
Ljubo Mauzer, our peregrine falcon!
Your heroes set out valiantly
On the road of life to Krajina.*
They broke through difficult rings of death,
And saved many from a bitter fate.
Refrain.
Your courage shall become a symbol
For our new generations
Of how a nation's pride and freedom
Ought to be defended and preserved.
Refrain.

Russia is waging a disgraceful war on Ukraine. Stand With Ukraine!
(*) allusion to the "koridor života" (the corridor of life), which was the name given to a strip of land opened by the recently created army of the Republic of Srpska (VRS) during the military operation Koridor '92, by which medicines and supplies could reach, as well as refugees exit, the lands in western Bosnia which had been cut off from the rest after a joint Croatian-Bosniak offensive early in the war.
Ljubiša Savić, later nicknamed "Mauzer", was born in Kovačići, Bijeljina on August 11, 1958.
He studied mechanical engineering, sociology, and later on, pedagogy. He was a social worker of the Serbian Solidarity Fund, and one of the founding members of the Srpska Nacionalna Garda -later renamed 1st Bijeljinska light infantry brigade (but best known as the special unit "Garda Panteri"), of the VRS. Despite having never undergone officers schooling, he had the support of the common people, as well as the will necessary, so as to be the unit's Commander; a position in which he excelled, among other things thanks to his ability to think and react with both speed and cool-headedness during stressful situations.
During the war, his unit, made up purely of volunteers, was present at all the main fronts of the war and became one of the most important and successful of the VRS, winning the respect and recognition of both friend and foe.
People close to him have described him as above all a good man, honest and righteous, dedicated to his family, very intelligent, very friendly, and ever caring and working for the welfare and just treatment of others.
He was fond of fishing, of playing table tennis and basketball, and was also a passionate chess-player. He had also a great interested in literature, listened to Rock music from the 70s, and enjoyed doing metalwork and carpentry as hobbies.
Despite knowing the risk involved and -as he stated- having no personal political ambitions of his own, his wish to find social justice for those who had lost so much during the war and to bring to justice those who had illegally taken advantage of it, led him to enter politics in 1995. During the following years, he was elected to the post of Chief of Police of the Republic of Srpska -a position not greatly envied during the turbulent and politically uncertain postwar era.
During those years he also dedicated much concern to trying to improve the living conditions and social recognition of veterans and families of deceased soldiers, and he is said to have fought corruption regardless of which political party the suspects pertained to.
After several unsuccessful attempts on his life, Ljubiša Savić was shot several times and killed on the afternoon of June 7, 2000 on a street in the city of Bijeljina.

Of his many meaningful quotes, perhaps the most memorable will always be "Када одузмемо од оних који су у рату узели све што нису имали, и одужимо се онима који су за Отаџбину дали све што су имали, можемо рећи да имамо државу." Which translates more or less into: "When we have taken away from those who during the war took for themselves everything which they did not have, and given back to those who for the Motherland gave everything that they had, then we will be able to say that we have a State."
