Translation
He Returned for Her
He promised to make her his,
she swore that she loved him.
He went out to seek his fortune,
saying that he would return.
He never thought that his bride
would betray him with another.
The day he returned for her,
he came knocking at his home,
but a friend of his told him
that his bride was getting married:
"You'll find her in front of the church,
they're already celebrating".
He raised his eyes to the sky
crying for what he was feeling,
he headed towards the tavern
to put an end to his tears,
but when he arrived at the plaza
he was already influenced by evil.1
He went straight to the bride,
people moved out of the way.
When he took out his gun,
she yelled: "Stop!"
but he took her life away
and he shot himself in the head.
"I don't want to say his name
out of respect to his memory",
in order not to do so,
he put an end to the story.
And so that's how two lives were ended,
may God rest their souls.
- 1. lit. 'he already had the devil in him' = he already had revenge set in mind.
