The sun was shining and the birds were screeching loudly
as he awoke upon the day that would be his last.
A wave of desire crashed over him,
and his skin was clammy with dew.
Through the vein-blue sky tore a wide fissure,
and dark waters fell in upon him.
An unknown power rose up in him,
and suddenly it became clear
that nothing was as it was yesterday.

They plummet down like stones from the firmament

They fly as dark birds into the world

They land as black shadows that torment us
and they take revenge on mankind
who has fallen, as have they
He set off, leaving everything behind him.
His steps were feather-light and free.
Under his cloak he bore cold steel;
he smiled quietly and hummed as he went
His hand gave seven people a quick death
until he himself was struck down by a bullet.
Those who knew him said it was strange,
for no one had ever seen him happier.
The splendor of an angel could be seen upon him.
