Wooden Heart

Can't you see
I love you
Please don't break my heart in two
That's not hard to do
'Cause I don't have a wooden heart

And if you say goodbye
Then I know that I would cry
Maybe I would die
'Cause I don't have a wooden heart

There's no strings upon this love of mine
It was always you from the start

Treat me nice
Treat me good
Treat me like you really should
'Cause I'm not made of wood
And I don't have a wooden heart

I'll have to go, I'll have to go
And leave this little town
Leave this little town
And you, my darling dear, stay here
[2x]

There's no strings upon this love of mine
It was always you from the start

Forgive me
Forgive me
Forgive me as you should
As you really should
'Cause I don't have a wooden heart

This seems to be an English translation, so you might want to change the language to English.

"Sei mir gut" actually means "be well-disposed to me" or "be affectionate" with me.
These words sound a bit awkward in the context of this song, so I chose to interpret it as "forgive me" which is short and simple and expresses the meaning of what he wants to say, I figure.

The German original from 1827 is about a young man, a craftsman probably, who leaves the town where he had been contracted for a year or so and he tries to console the girl he had there.
The "sei mir gut" part is not part of the original song lyrics, but was obviously newly created for this version.
"Sei mir wie du wirklich sollst" sounds kind of strange to a native German speaker.
