I think the song's expressed feelings would seem a little intense for a daughter. Ie. "So he will not suspect that you have wept and leave me so I may prepare my luggage" - I'm not sure why a daughter would cry and the father prepares his luggage to leave? Also his request to "Fix yourself up woman, you're running late (and the rest of that verse)" - is a little odd where he address the lady as 'mujer', not 'hija', 'niña', 'nena', etc. That seems more like an adult-adult conversation.
I think Julio Iglesias' "De Niña A Mujer" from around the same time would be more father-daughter appropriate, no? But if your statement is accurate - eeeewww, I wold not listen to this song ever again :~
