My Town's Bells

They rang at storms, rang at weddings
They rang for lives and for last journeys
Like some eternal music, of our glory, our misery
They rang since forever, the old bells in my town

Thay called upon God and the people for the sinking boat
They rang, they rang for the fields and balconies
Thay gathered our boats like birds from its nest
As if a mother's heart beats in the steeple beneath the stars

While the old harbours are asleep and the blue skies twinkle
The steeples are like hands following a white ship
There's no sky in stone, man passes a heavy path
But once I need them, the old bells are here again.

(Chorus)
They tell us our history carefully like a father to his son
On evenings like this one, they pour out all the warmth
Like some eternal music of cradles, of colonnades
Listen to them, the way they ring, my town's old bells

There's no sky in stone, man passes a heavy path
But once I need them, the old bells are here again.

(Chorus)
