I speak several languages: Spanish, Neo-Aramaic (both Urmia Assyrian and Lishan Didan/Urmia Judeo-Aramaic), (Levantine) Arabic, English, Hebrew, French.
But I really enjoy mainly translating Assyrian songs just for fun and for the sake of it. It's my way of staying connected to a language that's sadly fading away.
Assyrian is a group of dialects of Neo-Aramaic. Aramaic was once the lingua franca of the Near East, long before Arabic. Did you know even Jesus Christ himself spoke a form of it, making Aramaic central to early Christianity? For Jews, parts of the Bible are written in it, prayers like the Kaddish are recited in it, and major texts like the Talmud and Zohar include large portions in Aramaic... 😊
My favorite singer is Evin Agassi. I've transcribed and translated many of his songs, check them out! https://lyricstranslate.com/es/evin-agassi-lyrics
