Fujii Ichiko (born: June 23, 1970) was an idol singer active in mid to late 1980s. In 1985, she won second place in audition for the drama: "Maido Osawagaseshimasu", which she appeared in the season 2 playing as Nakayama Miho's friend. That was her debut in acting.

And then there was another drama aired around the same time on the same tv network following similar storyline: "Natsu Taiken Monogatari". Nakayama Miho played the lead role in season 1, and then in 1986, Fujii Ichiko played the lead role in season 2. Ichiko also made her singing debut on July 25, 1986, with her debut song used as OST for the drama.

While I don't really know much about Ichiko (I never really listened to her songs, just happened to hear once a part of Checkpoint), but I can tell you more about the idols who have starred in the series wich made her (And Miporin/Risa) rise to stardome!

As for Maido Osawagaseshimasu, Risa was actually uncomfortable with the themes of the drama, but she knew that she'd become famous if she starred, so she took the chance and it paid off

Fujii Ichiko was a one hit wonder. This song alone makes up for half of her total sales. Her second single although also composed by the legendary Tsutsumi Kyohei, the sales dropped from almost 100k into just 10k+, and it kept declining after that.
Yeah, there's two Shojotai members in season 1. I didn't mention the rest of the casts because I don't know who they are. But there's Matsumoto Dump. 😅
I didn't know Agatsuma Kayo has an idol sister.
Seems like that drama was what boosted Miporin's fame. But she needed to do a certain scene. 😅
Tachibana Risa was still okay, but Goto Kumiko would be too young to play in that kind of drama. 😅
Atleast she got to experience what it was like to be a famous idol for some time! Tho seems like her acting carrer also didn't flurish sadly
To be fair... I also don't know who half of these people are (・∀・). Most of them are 1960's or very, very early 1970's idols, and thats not my area of knowledge (；´∀｀). I think I've heard Naoko, and I've heard some Shojotai songs. Also heard a snippet of Shinobu Hories debut song

Yes, it played a big part in her becoming famous. It also helped to promote her debut song C, so it certainly helped her in getting a lot of exposure. I don't know anything about these two dramas, but from the short introduction on Idol.ne.jp I'm afraid for poor Miporin (；・∀・)
Maybe thats why she dropped out, or maybe she didn't feel like she'd like the drama. To be fair, from what I read I'd also consider dropping out ^^". It's not like she needed the drama to boost her popularity since she was at the top already
And at least she has played as main lead for a whole season, something that most mid levels wouldn't achieve.
In her movie, she co-starred with Sano Ryoko, but maybe not as the main lead.
I don't know if this song was ranked in "The Best Ten", but the sales should be high enough.

I read that her front parts were covered with pads and the camera only shot her from behind waist up, so I think Miporin was safe. 😅
Once she became big, she already had leverage to be selective with her drama offers. But Miporin had mature looks so she often casted as character older than her real age, like playing a married woman although she was in her late teen in real life.
According to wikipedia, Goto Kumiko withdrew because of gastritis and concerned about her "idol" image; I think it's mostly the later. 😅 But then Goto Kumiko starred with Miporin in another drama.
Ryoko has done a lot of movies it seems ^^". I really like her music tho

Thank good for poor Miporin. But I think that her agency must have decided to set her on the "cool" idol path very early on, because otherwise I don't think they would have chosen that drama for her debut and song tie-up

Yea, I don't think any idol going for the classic cute idol vibe would ever go for that. Look at Risa, she went for kinda of a Miporin/Shi-chan route with Gimon. Not sure about the other idols that starred in it, but Shinobu Horie's concept kinda fit with the drama
Sano Ryoko started as actress before debuted as singer one year later. That must be why she had better acting career than singing. Her song sales are the level of Fujii Ichiko and Ito Miki. But she appeared in quite a lot of videos with other big idols.

At least that drama and it's OST paved the way for Miporin to be the number 3. Come to think of it, Miporin was the most well rounded idol with the most complete stats. Seiko, Akina, Kudo Shizuka (or the three of them combined) were no match at all against Miporin in acting career. Yakishimaru Hiroko, Saito Yuki, Nanno, Harada Tomoyo were no match against Miporin in song sales. She has the most balanced stats. 😆
Fujii Ichiko was the "cool" idol type tho. Maybe until her last single when she had long hair and ribbon. 🎀
Yes, Tachibana Risa was "cool" type in all her singles. The other supporting casts were mostly random small idols so maybe they didn't have privilege to be picky and just took whatever jobs offered to them.

A lot of idols tend to switch up from the cool to the cute type. Ad example Yuki Kudo went from Yasei Jidai, Heroine and her album Sensation to cute songs like Tokimeki FALL IN YOU and Cinderella Liberty mo hecchera and the album STRAWBERRY TOWN. In her later carrer she seemed to go for a more sophisticated feel tho ^^

I haven't really check Kudo Yuki songs, only her pics. She debuted at very young age. Her voice and her face remind me of Kudo Minako / Honda Minako.

I always wonder if someone has a recording of In the Distance. I mean, one person has it, they bought that vinil, but I wonder why they didnt post it. I don't know. The label might still have the original copy. According to the Youtuber, they destroyed it or something, I can't remember. Miporin might have heard Yasuko sang it, who knows. I mean, she might want to show her new single to her best friend.
Yoshie looked so sophisticated in that performance. The song is so good tho, I've never been a big listener of Yoshies early stuff, but I think I'll start giving a chance to her later stuff
The forever sixteen year old Iyo! Its weird to see her with a calmer/slower songs (I mean confront this to her idol songs), but her voice works very well with it, it sounds so calming

It is, probably from around 2001? It was last updated in 2015. Its a complete collection of even self produced idols (idols without a label or agency), and they even have a very big collection regarding male idols and idol groups. Its a very good source if you get past some of its weirdness and clunky design ^^". Wish they had finished their debut charts tho, I could use them for the late 80's and early 70's
I knew of them (basically I saw their names in passing) but I never heard their songs! I'm taking this as a chance to listen to their song and its actually better than I expected ૮ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ა! At this point I think there are very limited copies, but I feel like Miporin could have recived a demo of the song from Yasuko, maybe to give her a snippet of what she was getting ready for
