The Fusilier II
The Troops at Przemysl
Are lost already
At the breakthrough of Wetlina
Ten thousand froze to death
They let themselves be snowed in
Never to wake again
Others expose themselves
To catch a bullet
Wounded comrades
Waste away miserably
wind their bodies in the ice and
die after many hours
Wolves come at night
And take the dead
pride and honor
destroyed in mountain battle
And we go on and on
In storm with urge
Step by step deep through the snow
And every man
As good as he can
seeks to escape the madness
And we go on and on
In storm with urge
The frost as last escort
The ice curtain
circles so long
until it snows in the dead
The last escort
Our tactic
Annihilate the armies
The action was termed
as "scorched earth"
No shelter no protection
Nothing more to get
Only ashes and rubble
Lie on burnt ground
Since several weeks
Only frozen turnips
Finger nails broken
By hungry digging
Homestead in mind
I stomp along
no rest no pauses
Through storm with the urge
And I go on and on
In storm with urge
The cold in my core
Death offered
Take my hand
Be put out of your misery
And I go on and on
In the dead land
I lie in the peaceful white
To homestead on
To wife and child
I dream frozen in ice
And I go on and on
In storm with urge
I lie in the peaceful white
To homestead on
To wife and child
I dream frozen in ice

I tried to preserve the rythm at some points, which is why it might not be a perfect translation, but I mostly wanted to bring across the spirit of it.
The english name of the "Verbrannte Erde" tactic/strategy is "scorched earth" which is why I used that instead of otherwise trying to translate it.
"Sturm und Drang" is the name of a German proto-romantic movement in the 18th century, I don't know if Kanonenfieber wanted to reference this, I translated it as "Storm and urge", although it could also be called "Storm and stress".
