• Black Pink in your area:

  ‘BLACKPINK in your area’ is the group’s signature phrase.

  When producer Teddy came up with it, the members were a little bit hesitant to use it, though they reckon they had a fun time while recording it.

  Ever since the phrase was first mentioned in their debut single, “BOOMBAYAH,” the line started gaining recognition and with it came a deeper understanding of what the line really means.

  The name ‘BLACKPINK’ was given to the group to symbolize the multi-dimensional nature of its members, ‘BLACKPINK’ means to say that “pretty isn’t everything.” It also symbolizes that they are a team that “encompasses not only beauty but also great talent.” On the other hand, ‘In your area’ refers to their global approach. No matter where you are, BLACKPINK’s music will always be one click away. As the members said:

  We’re in your area. Wherever you are, we are.

  With time, the line became BLACKPINK’s signature and appears in the majority of their songs, including mega-hits “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” “Kill This Love,” and “How You Like That.” They’ve even used it as the title for their first Japanese studio album.

• Middle finger up, F U pay me:

  Referencing the maxim “f*ck you, pay me,” from the classic Martin Scorsese gangster movie Goodfellas (1990).

• '90s baby, I pump up the jam:

  Lisa was born in March 1997, making her what some people call a “nineties baby.” “Pump Up the Jam” is a song released in 1989 that is now regarded as a 90’s classic.

• I'm gonna go brrrr, Rambo:

  This line refers to Sylvester Stallone’s character John Rambo, in the movie First Blood and its 4 sequels.
