These are the lyrics to the original version of Ahlam’s “Hadh Elly Shayef Nafsah”. This song was also part of a medley sung in the Middle Eastern contest Arab Idol, and as it was used in a form of acknowledging the origins of the different contestants by having each one of them sing the part where their city/country is mentioned, for instance the part the starts off “ المغرب كان معايه في (Fi almaghreb kan ma3yah) is sung by Morrocan singer Salma Rachid. The song includes a different order and it adds different verses as some cities/countries are not included in the song. For example, Palestinian singer Mohammed Assaf was part of the medley and since the song does not feature any part that mentions Palestine (or any of its cities) there was a verse added that starts as “نسي ليالي فلسطين (nasi layali Falastin)” as an added stanza sung by Assaf. .
