Follow Me Home
Whether you're happy or not
You must follow me home
Whether you like it or not
You must follow me to my father's house
Akinyele wants to marry a wife
He doesn't want to pay some bride price
You better find it
Akinyele, son of Jinadu
He doesn't want to pay some bride price
You better find it
Akinyele o...
Cold is catching me, my back aches
Come, follow me to my father's house
Didn't you tell me the same thing yesterday?
I'm here again, let's go meet my parents
Stubborn lawyer!
First class liar
Tricky fella, pay before you chop soup
My mother gave birth to me
My father nurtured me
I'm not fit for registry marriage
literate lawyer
Akinyele o...
Stubborn lawyer!
First class liar
Tricky fella, pay up!
So the child can drink
So the child can eat
So the child can be a child!
Akinyele o...

This song promote rich Yoruba marriage culture. If a girl is not married traditionally (the guy must pay the bride price to her parents, a tradition well known in some African countries and called "lobola" in South Africa) it is disrespectful to the parents. Basically, the girl is telling the guy she won't be fooled by him and that he needs to meet her parents and marry her before anything else.
