Translation

Us Against The World

In the parking lot of the mall, fireworks fly to the sky, young parents and children frolic around
The baseball ground and the lights from Miracle Shopping
An exoplanet meteorite

A hangover excreeted benefit
The city that reacts to scales
The senpai* that died in the bypass
They died here every year, for ten years

If we ask the meaning of life, it's the end
That said we'll crush the insects with our value
Only in the time I drank too much "Can't even understand" such understanding came
The next day, the sweat and the voucher dry up in no time

The light trespasses trees in the freight car of the switch yard, I work for you
One day, I changed the world just for you

Once, it was just you and I
We called that calm place our world, our bodies connected
In the end, I treated your hematomes
The school building's sunset time's little clouds
The blazer's ribbon and the isolation's farthest end
The shirt tinted with oil
I fill the truck with my imagination

Past, future, just us against the world

I feel I left something I didn't want to leave behind
But I already forgot what that was about
Or maybe it's contrary, something left me behind
My mission always seems so impatient
That woman that was always rushing, I remember her name "Time"
The back of the figure is not visible anymore even that gentle smile is blurry

The pain is long gone, in the sunset only the scab remains, my scar, grieving, but
The drowned sound of me waking up

Once, down our nose there was an infinite wilderness
Even if I go or not, I'll do it bravely, for my dead friend
I'll never leave something and go away
With delicateness, we'll start our armed revolution
Because of our little number we are turning over and catching victory, once honor
Even if we package it, the destinatinon is unknown

Past, future, just us against the world

I was believing the world was to end
We are going to change something, I was believing
Even if we come to be farther and farther apart
The feeling is unchangeable and I wouldn't doubt you
Betrayal, desilusion, unspoken false accusations
Flattery, excuses
And spoken promisses

Manga café, crowded train
Visible flattery, apologizing, shame, abuse
A friend capable of showing its Hon'ne**, once a comrade in arms
The laughable story that I was once uncapable of laughing at
Music, my son and wife, and political power
Left and right, yesterday and today, and the stories of the future too!

A short break, in the weekend
Being blown out by the tepid wind on the park, in my connected hands
That time passed, only the temperature of that
The helped world continuation of that day
After that defeated world of that day
While suffering, we were living a hard life

Past, future, us against the world

Translating other people's words brings responsibilities. Responsibilities both to the authors and to fans. Making mistakes is not an embarrassing thing, and there is no "perfect" translation. A beautiful translation is not faithful and a faithful translation is not beautiful. Yet "Practice makes perfect" is not true if you dare to own responsibilities as a translator. If you spread misconceptions about songs with the mistranslations you made, who wipes out the widespread mistakes among the fandom? "Tell me if you find mistakes" is another sign of your giving up the responsibilities. Constant asking of quality check means you still have a long way to go, and you should concentrate on your Japanese study more than translating songs for practice or fun. You are supposed to have the ability to read Japanese newspapers and magazines and write Japanese documents fluently without always reffering to dictionaries if you call yourself translator.
