Original lyrics
llevé a Chicago y a Nueva York
y varias veces por mala suerte
caí en las rejas de la prisión
Allá en Laredo en una emboscada
con los sheriffs me la rifé
me fui por Allis tirando al norte
y de la muerte yo me acordé
Por San Antonio pasé de noche
llegando a Houston no sé por qué
los patrulleros tenían aviso
y del corral me les escapé
Temible cárcel de Kansas City
famosa cárcel de San Quintin
de San Antonio su cárcel nueva
del quinto piso me les salí
El gato negro no se despide
desaparece de la región
cuando me miren todo de negro
y ojos borrados ese soy yo.

Translation
The Black Cat
They call me the "Black Cat"
and I'm a wanted man,
they say I'm dangerous,
a heartless man and a criminal.
From a young age I've had vices,
I've come to know of all bad things,
I know all of the traffickers
and criminals of the region.
From the mountains there in Chihuahua
I traveled with white cargo,
and under the sheriffs' noses
I crossed goods over the border.
Cargos full of marijuana
I took to Chicago and New York,
and sometimes by sheer bad luck
I fell behind prison bars.
There in an Laredo, in an ambush;
I shot and killed the sheriffs,
I went though Alice up north
and I called to mind death.
I passed the night in San Antonio
and arrived in Houston for who knows what,
patrol officers were told ahead of time
and I escaped from their grasp.
From the terrible prison1 of Kansas City
from the famous prison of San Quintin
from San Antonio in it's new prison
from the fifth floor I escaped.
The Black Cat doesn't say goodbye
he disappears from the region,
when they see me dressed all in black
and blank eyes, they know it's me.
