The Villain
Click to see the original lyrics (Spanish)
He gives you his love, you sleep with doubts
Now you see that habit is not always what it appears.
He is so sincere, contrary to my defects
but I continue to be the villain that you do not cease to love.
You will be the Cinderella, he, he will be the inadequate fool,
and though I am not a prince charming
I am your love, and your dillema, like the dramas-
I am the villian with but one virtue.
He does not understand the procedure of how and when to kiss you.
I, in turn, find the point of weakness that elevates you into excess.
He doesn't even imagine the mysterious pact between your soul and your brain.
You would have to be born again, to see if in another life you could fall in love for him.
He doesn't have the adequate tactic to tear me from your chest.
I that failed you a million times, continue to be your owner.
Let him ask me how I conquered you,
that he take down notes of all my little tricks.
Morals and fidelity matter not, because you are delirious
for the villain that brings chills to your skin.
listen, listen to the words of Romeo
so nasty, yes sir...

Translation, from Spanish to English often requires understanding of regional and cultural usage of words. Lyrics in Spanish tend to be poetic and have multiple meanings and extensive use of metaphor. For example, here he talks about "Novelas" which is the classic storytelling genre not just "soap operas."
El malo, in storytelling is the "bad one" but more precisely "the villian." "El tonto que da pena" this means the foolish one that people are embarressed/ashamed about. Think about the awkard wierd person in a party that you happen to be related to. But also fitting in with the classic archeotypes of the "the fool," he is a fool because he can not have her, her heart is with the villain.
Finally, there is the line of the "adequate tactic of ripping me from inside your chest," it is a metaphor, to mean that he resides in her heart. This is a really beautiful song, one of my favs. I like his use of sexuality weaved into the power of love over a person's senses.
The use of "owner/dueno" is quite literal and intentional. "Herisa la piel," is the sensation of tingling pleasure that sometimes gives you goosebumps.
