I write "Come", thus you come to me
I write "Sit", thus you sit with me
You rest your head on my shoulder
I say "Slumber", you fall asleep
I write "Come", thus you come to me
I write "Sit", thus you sit with me
You rest your head on my shoulder
I say "Slumber", you fall asleep
Come, let me recite such a poem
The words I recite, thus they become
I write "Heart", you firm my heart
I write "Lost", I end up losing you
I heave a sigh, you express a moan
I write "restless", you become restless
Then I endure the 'less' of 'restless'
So that you may rest
Now, I write "I", thus you'd remember me
Then, I write "SH", you shine away1 from sleep
When I write "Q", you become quirky2
I write "ISHQ"3, and you fall in love
Stay with me today, oh my beloved, oh my beloved
Listen beautiful, oh my beloved, oh my beloved
Stay with me today, oh my beloved, oh my beloved
Listen beautiful, oh my beloved, oh my beloved
- 1. Word play. Literally: "I write [the letter] SHIN, you lose your sleep [ie. you are awake and no longer drowsy]
- 2. Word play. Literally: "I write [the letter] QAAF, something happens to you [ie. you start to feel something]
- 3. The word 'ishq' عشق means 'love' in Urdu, so the line literally means, "I write 'love', and it happens to you" [ie. I write 'love' and thus you fall in love]. The singer is also spelling it out in the previous lines I-SH-Q ع-ش-ق.

Author's comments:
Although the individual letters which make up the Urdu word "I–SH–Q" ishq (عشق), do not carry any individual meanings, nor are they really directly related to the lines that follow it, I have matched it with some sort of English equivalent to make it consistent with the original lyrics. For instance, "I" to mean the personal pronoun, "SH" to mean "Shine", and "Q" to mean "quirky".
