Ocean of the Heart

For a myriad years, I pretended I had no expectations
I was embarrassed, but now I get it
Is what I say, but...

The hyperbolae could never meet
Not knowing a thing, I dove deep
Without holding my breath

A languid, faded light called out to me
If I can reach out...

Ah, my heart still isn't enough¹
In the deep calm sea, I imagined idealism
I wished so much it hurt, I could never forget
Ah, when I stand still right here, I remember
I really didn't even know the taste of tears
When I laughed with you

I want to swim in in my imaginary world
Seeing the twilight sun,
My memories came flowing

Talking in a hopeless, apathetic tone
Looking up at the sky, I realized
I couldn't even believe in the future, anymore

I hear a voice so unbelievably beautiful,
Though it's just a battered dream

My heartbeat fluttered rapidly
If this sound echoing through my whole heart
is the proof that I lived with you
I'll keep searching, with my howling voice;
"I'm coming right away"

Ah, my heart still isn't enough
In the deep calm sea, I imagined idealism
I wished so much it hurt, I could never forget
Ah, when I stand still right here, I remember
I really didn't even know the taste of tears
When I laughed with you

Hey! Just letting y’all know, I made my version of the translation very quickly so there were a few mistakes, I’ll fix them ASAP. I think that the second translation is better, but here’s the differences:

I tried to translate it as literally as possible, so most lines feel awkward and clunky. I tried not to make any grammatical conjunctions that didn’t exist in the original text, so it’s open to interpretation just as must as the original.

The other translation is much more polished and created by a far more experienced translator than me, however it assumes some links between the grammar that, while very likely, could be something else. It does tell a better and more accurate story, and outstrips mine by far in overall quality, but if you’re looking for a more literal translation that takes lines on a one-by-one basis, mine is... sort of ok.

That’s all! I understand if none of this makes sense to you, basically, the other version is better because I rushed mine, and the other was done by a more skilled translator. So, please, use that one.

Sorry for the long comment, apologies for the confusion!

That's true, yours is more literal and mine is not as much. There's nothing wrong with a literal translation as long as it makes grammatical sense. I used to do more literal translations, but I just decided that I liked this way better, personally.

Yeah, it’s strange, but I prefer reading your type of translation and prefer making literal ones. Thanks again for the help :)
