Portem lo vin

Dins nòstre petit vilatge
Aimam plan la libertat
E a n'impòrta quin atge
Òm s'i amusa, es plan vertat.

Vin d'anoga, vin d'irange
E Blanqueta ancestrala.

Coma pertot, i a de filhas polidas,
De carnavals e de lengas marridas;
Mas i podèm pas copar lo fisson,
Cossí farián per cantar ma cançon?

Let's Bring Out The Wine

In our small village
We truly love freedom
And it doesn't matter at which age
People have fun, it's very much true.

From the little child to the matron,
Everyone adds their little bit.
That day in the town square,
Nobody has anything that's only their own.

When one day, the mill made a party,
In its neighbourhood, with the young in front,
The whole village got deeply involved:
'Let's do this very thing in our lovely quarter!'

In this little corner of land
We have everything we need:
We don't lack any beer,
We drink wine by the truckload.

Macabeo, Muscat, Grénache,
Cartagena from home,
Crème de noyaux, orange liquor
And ancestral Limoux wine.

On top of that, we can do crazy things:
If it all goes wrong, we have pharmacies
And, if ever someone kicks the bucket,
There's a tailor to make their burial garment!

In our small village,
We have stopped time.
Summer is like a mirage...
God, we're going to treat ourselves!

Before leaving to party,
We must dress appropriately:
A bit of perfume under our clothes,
One last look in the mirror.

As everywhere else, there are pretty girls,
Tacky freaks and malicious tongues;
But we cannot just give it up,
How would they be able to sing my song?
