Η νύχτα είναι παγερή
και σιγοψιχαλίζει
κι απ’ την απέναντι γωνιά
το καπηλειό
το καπηλειό φωτίζει
 
Κι ένας απένταρος μπεκρής
έξω απ’ το ταβερνάκι
συλλογισμένος κάθεται
στο χαμηλό
στο χαμηλό πορτάκι
 
Θέλει να μπει κι αυτός εκεί
να άρχισει και να πίνει
μα είναι φτωχό το καπηλειό
και βερεσέ
