Pretty, little Prayer for me
Pretty, little Prayer for me

Pretty, little Prayer for me
Pretty, little Prayer for me

Pretty, little Prayer for me
Pretty, little Prayer for me

Request

From the distance, those pervert boys...
...are staring at my smooth legs

But first, they must fulfill my first and second request or else...
...I'll just keep walking along the beach and ignore them

1. Show me proof of how much you love me
2. Make me fall head over heels like Cinderella

In one night fling season, there's a lot of cases of short romance
I just want to really cherish my relationship

This is my little prayer
God, please grant my wish. I want to have a sweet romance
This is my little prayer
Someone love me, hold me tight, please

I want to try a little naughty love
But now I'm still wary of sweet kisses

If you can fulfill my third and fourth request,
...I'll swim around in mermaid pose

3. Cast your magic on me with your sweet words
4. Smile at me like a prince

Each night, there're billions of potential loves lying dormant
Please grant me one of them

Do me a sweet little favor
I can't accept you yet. You should learn to be serious first
Do me a sweet little favor
Love me, hold me tight, please

This is my little prayer
God, please grant my wish. I want to have a sweet romance
Do me a sweet little favor
Give me a hot passionate kiss! Do it! Do it!
Please...

Morio Yumi (born:June 8, 1966) was an idol in early 1980s. She first appeared in the magazine "Seventeen" and immediately got scouted. She made her debut in acting by appearing in a drama in 1982. One year later, she made her debut as idol singer in May 5, 1983 .

The Bad Harvest of 1983

1980s was the golden age of idol. There were hundreds of idol singers. Some of them could make it big, most didn't. Among them, there's the Class'83 - idols who debuted in 1983. There were quite a lot of them but not a single one could sell well, they were called "the bad harvest" of 1983. They got sandwiched between Class'82 (*that produced tons of big name idols: Nakamori Akina, Kyon2, Matsumoto Iyo, Hayami Yuu, Hori Chiemi, Ishikawa Hidemi) and Class'84 (*also had some big names like Kikuchi Momoko, Oginome Yoko, Okada Yukiko), Class'83 simply had no space to grow. Morio Yumi belong to this Class'83

Singers debuted in 1983 (*I think some of them were not "idol" singers)

*It's quite insulting to call them "bad harvest"; they all also started their careers with full of dream and hope, nobody wanted to fail. But decades have passed, now they can just laugh it off and even use this "bad harvest" thing as topic to talk about when they appeared in variety shows in modern days. Class'83 has strong camaraderie and decades long friendship among them.

In her career, she has released a total of 10 singles and 5 original albums. The highest position her song ever reached in Oricon chart was #43. There's no information about her total sales, but she was part of Class'83, and by her own account, she also admitted that her songs didn't sell well. But she is quite successful in other fields. For her acting career, Morio Yumi has appeared in a total of 39 dramas (1982 - 2023) and 5 movies (1985 - 2014). She also does voice acting (1987 - 2016). She was also active in variety shows since 1980s, most notably in "All Night Fuji" (*predecessor of "Yuuyake Nyan Nyan") and still active in variety show even now.

This song is her debut song. Released in May 5, 1983, it reached #54 in Oricon chart with 41,000 sales, which is her highest selling song.

Yumi Morio is one of my favourite idols, and one of the first that I discovered/listened to! The first song of hers that I listened to was Dakara touch me, and its still my favourite of hers ^^.
I wonder why the 83 group didnt do too well tho, maybe people overlooked them in favor of the 82 idols? Anyways its sad since a lot of them were very talented (Sayuri Iwai, Itsumi Osawa, Chie Kobayashi and Azumi Inue ad example)

By the way, I found a blog post wich claimed that the sales to O ne ga i were 4,100 and that it ranked 54th, since its a random blog post its not the most credible source, but its something to go off atleast TT

Because they got sandwiched between class'82 and class'84. Class'82 had too many big idols, most of them were Kohaku performers, they wouldn't be gone in just one year. Class'84 also had some big name idols. By 1985, came another batch of big idols who could rival the Class'82. And by 1986, most of the Class'83 might have already been forgotten. They simply had no room to grow at all.

Could you put the link, please? Maybe it also has data for her other songs. I can't find her sales data anywhere. #54 looks plausible since Oricon website lists her three songs ranked between #43-#45. 4,100 sales will be so sad, it means it's even less than mid level idols from late '80s we've seen so far who could earn at least 20k-30k sales for each of their songs. That's less than 1/100 of Hikaru Genji we just seen yesterday.

Sure! I'll link a couple sites/blogs that mention her! It is a shame that the 83 class happened to just have very bad luck tho TT, and they deserved more attention from the public, but some of them were pretty popular! (The most famous one was Sayuri Iwai from what I saw)

Onegai blog + some vague info about her next single's sales: https://ameblo.jp/cherrycreekjp/entry-12552338897.html?frm=theme
Tenkeyohō wa I Luv U: https://idol.ne.jp/morioyumi-tenkiyohoha-i-luv-u
Another blog confirming the song sales for Onegai: https://ameblo.jp/tsupparitaro2/entry-12794350468.html

These seem about it, the first blog and idol.ne.jp are usually my go to places when searching for idol song sales! They almost always have the oricon place, and if it was included in the top 100 the sales too

Thanks for the links. So this song is her highest selling song. Apparently I was right to pick this song as her intoductory song. 41,000 was decent, it means she was most likely the same level as those mid-level idols I translate before. I made a list of their highest selling song here.

No problem! Usually debut songs are the ones that sell the most from what I saw, maybe its because people are looking forward to the singers carrer? Also sorry about the typo on the sales ^^;

Since we dont have her total sales, I assume she'd be on the same level/slightly higher than Miki Itō and Yamase Mami, I feel like since she started earlier and had more singles/albums she could have more sales than them (´▽`)

I think so. She has 10 singles and 5 albums, Ito Miki has 7 singles and 3 albums. Ito Miki has less songs but her Oricon chart position looks better: #18, #13, #16, #32, #38, #55, #69. So,yeah, I think more or less around that level. Some 100k - 200k total sales.
