Ամեն ինչ լուռ է լուսնի տակ։ Բնությունը մեռած է և պառկած է այստեղ, նույնքան պայծառ ու սառը, որքան վերևում գտնվող լուսինը։ Որքա՞ն կոտորած է տեսել և անտեսել լուսնի կոշտ աչքն ու սառած սիրտը։ Եվ դու, Վանա լիճ, որի ջրերը թաքցնում են հայոց մուսայի քնարները, ասա մեզ, թ՞ե երբ կբարձրանան խեղդված նիմփաները։ Նայիր լուսնի ետևը և տես առավոտյան աստղը։ Ասա մեզ, վստահեցրու մեզ, Վեներա առաջին լույսի ներքո, որ հարությունը կգա։

All is silent under the moon. Nature is dead and lies here, as bright and cold as the moon above. How much carnage has the moon's hard eye and frozen heart seen and ignored? And you, Lake Van--whose waters hide the lyres of the Armenian muses--tell us, when will the drowned nymphs rise? Look behind the moon and see the morning star. Tell us, assure us, Venus in the first light, that a resurrection will come.
