The winter has kept us here for a long time,
we were snowed in from the world.
The land was quiet,

I guess it might depend on how long the process takes. If it's a gradual process, maybe "turn", but if it's analogous to a magician's trick ...
German isn't, I believe, so worried about capitals at the beginning of lines in poems. Sort of odd, maybe, for them to so unsure about such a thing!

Very good. The only thing that kind of threw me off was the translation of "Werden Zweifel zu Rauch" (partly due to the lack of a space between Zweifel and zu, and like so many other lines in the transcription it is missing its proper capitalization as the beginning of a line from a song or poem) in that it's more literally "Turn doubt into smoke" or "Doubt turns into smoke"-saying that the doubts vanish in smoke is a little ambiguous, as it could mean that you merely can't see them until a strong gust removes the smoke (to extend the metaphor).
