У прибрежных лоз, у высоких круч
И любили мы, и росли.
Ой, Днипро, Днипро, ты широк, могуч,
Над тобой летят журавли.
И увидел бой Днепр-отец, река.
Мы в атаку шли под горой.
Кто пoгиб за Днепр, будет жить в веках,
Коль сражался он, как герой.
Враг напал на нас, мы с Днепра ушли.
Смертный бой гремел, как гроза.
Ой, Днипро, Днипро, ты течёшь вдали,
И волна твоя, как слеза.
Из твоих стремнин ворог воду пил.
Захлебнулся он той водой.
Славный час настал, мы пошли вперёд!
И увиделись вновь с тобой.
Кровь фашистских псов пусть рекой течёт!
Враг советский край не возьмёт!
Как весенний Днепр, всех врагов сметёт
Наша армия, наш народ!

Song about the Dnepr
Near the vines at the shore, at the high steeps

Cranes fly over you.
And father Dnepr, the river, saw battle.
We went to attack near the mountain.
Who died for the Dnepr, will live for centuries,
If he fought like a hero.
The enemy attacked us, we retreated from the Dnepr.
The deadly battle thundered, like a thunderstorm.
Oh, Dnipro, Dnipro, you flow far away,
And your wave is like a tear.
From your rapid currents, the enemy drank water.

May the blood of the fascist dogs flow like a river!
The enemy will not take the Soviet land!
Like the Dnepr in spring, will sweep away all enemies

- 1. Ukrainian name of the Dnepr river (It's actually spelled Дніпро and not Днипро, but the Ukrainian letter і doesn't exist in Russian and is pronounced like the Russian letter и.)
